Overall Experience
My review is just regarding one aspect and that is something I would like to be addressed, I am not reviewing this tournament in full, the rest was fine. The issue I am addressing here is the SportyHQ pool ranking system. In my pool of 4 I was ranked number 4. I lost two five setters and the other match in my pool I won three zero. The first two in the pool had two match wins and me and Matthew had one match win each. However for some bizarre reason I was ranked under the Matthew even though I won my game three zero against him. He lost his game against me three zero, against the other opponent he lost in five sets and then he had one win be default which is 3-0 in games. So we both had one match win, I wone seven games compared to his five games (note three of those games was by default). I won my head to head against him, I won a higher percentage games and points than him. I addressed this issue with the tournament organisers as well as the SportyHQ representative Heleen and got the following feedback. It was brought to my attention that SportyHQ works with a complex algorithm in event of ties in matches won. I was told by Heleen that she double checked that all the setting was correct and that it is correct that Matthew should be above me. When I requested on what metrics he did better than me she told me I lost more points than him and that various factors are taken into account. That is just a ridiculous justification off course I would have lost more points than me I played two five setters and played three games compared to his two. I have been following sport all my life you should have a clear simple set of rules to follow when there is ties, not some bizarre algorithm. For example if there is a tie in matches first comparison should always be head to head. If there is then still a tie it should be the most games won, obviously that should count higher than points. Lastly points should be considered.
